Only Seen Federal Bond Mimic Syndicate Cigars Ad Note
1879 United States of America $100 Federal Bond Mimic Advertising Note, Unknown Location, Five Ct. Syndicate Cigars, the Vlack Reference Illustrated Plate Note, Choice Very Fine.
Vlack 4410. This is a uniquely styled advertising piece and exceedingly rare, and is the only one we have seen. This is the actual “Vlack” Plate Note example. Printed on thin card stock, this Ad note mimics an 1879 Federal Bond for $100 with red protectors and blue seal. Vignettes are top center, US Capitol with Washington left. Usual fine text and ornate end panels. There is some minor splitting seen more so from the verso. The face is quite striking on this fascinating rarity.
