1871 Signed “C.R. Lanman” Yale University Photo Album

Class of 1871 Photo Album, 13.25” x 11”, belonging to C. R. Lanman of Norwich, Connecticut. Includes C. R. Lanman’s Photograph and 135 others, measuring 5.25” x 4” the photographs of his classmates are mounted to 13” x 10” gilt-edged album pages. All but five of the photographs are signed on the page below the image, along with the name of the home town; five of the photographs are unsigned. The covers are brown leather, engraved with a geometric border. Gold stamped “Yale” on the front cover and “Class Book” and “1871” on the spine; at the base of the spine, the owner’s name is gold stamped, “C.R. Lanman.” The end papers are marbled. The covers some scuffing around edges and on the spine, but the interior of the album is in excellent condition, with only minor foxing. Placing a value of $25 per image suggests an estimated value of near $3,500. A truly wonderful Photo Album memento for those connected or interested in Yale University.
