An outstanding vintage Dogwood Floral Still Life Oil Painting, circa 1965 signed Dwight C. Holmes (lower left), colorful impressionist depiction of pinkish-white dogwood in a blue vase, with exquisite application color and light this work is housed in its original stretcher and frame and would make an impressive gift or addition to any fine Texas or American art collection. - SIZE: 20" x 24" (artwork) / 25-1/2" x 29-1/2" (framed). - CONDITION: Some minor crazing to the canvas, light wear to the frame, black-lights perfectly, overall excellent condition. Biography: Dwight C. Holmes (1900-1986) was born in Albany, Oregon. He began formal art training in the Galveston high school. In college he studied at the Texas Christian University, serving also as student assistant and art editor for College annual. Received Certificate of Art and Bachelor of Arts Degree and became a faculty member in the Art Department. Dwight Holmes enjoys a broad art Horizon; sculpturing, painting, designing, ceramics, carving gold-leafing, restoration, etc. He paints in any medium and any subject matter but prefers oils and landscapes. Holmes began winning art awards at the age of 13 and continued to win numerous awards and honors throughout his career. Memberships include: Fort Worth Art Association: American Federation of Art: River Art Group & Coppini Academy of Fine Arts: San Angelo Art Club and others.
