Description

Available for sale is a group of three shipwreck recovered plates from the Ca Mau and Tek Sing ships. The Tek Sing ship was a large three-masted Chinese ocean-going junk which sank on February 6, 1822. The Ca Mau was a Chinese merchant’s junk on its way from Canton (Guangzhou) to Batavia when it caught fire and sank in about 1725. The smallest plate is marked "CMI-28999" with a sticker that is marked "Ca Mau-Binh Thuan Sotherby's-Unicom 30416." The two larger plates have identical stickers that are marked "Nagel Auctions Tek Sing Treasures." The pieces are in good condition for their age, with great detail and little to no wear. The plates measure 7 1/2" Dia, 6" Dia, and 4 3/8" Dia.
