The Pro Jerusalem Society was founded in 1918 by British General Herbert Samuel. Its mission was to focus on the civil life in the Old City, which the British military was inadequately prepared to deal with. The album discusses the involvement of the Society, despite the discomfort this caused to the British, and describes Jerusalem from different perspectives, in light of the tension between the different populations who lived there in the first years of the British Mandate 1918-1920.
