Min HaMetzar - memories from 1942-1945 by Rabbi Chaim Michael Dov Weissmandel, Emunah publishing, New York, 1960.
The significant work of Rabbi Weissmandel regarding rescue attempts that he instigated and operated in Europe during the terrible Holocaust years. Tens of photos of official documents and handwritten papers regarding rescue attempts, along with letters sent to him from officers in the German Reich and the Jewish Agency regarding activities that he implemented together with the rabbis of Jewish communities and more. The book is written from a personal perspective and details tens of personal events, with day-to-day updates, of his many activities to rescue Jews, particuarly the Jews of Czechoslovakia.
After the Holocaust, Rabbi Weissmandel put all his efforts into publishing this work. When he was on his deathbed, he asked his disciple who was helping him with the work, to bring the book to the hospital so that he could edit it, in order to complete the publication. The book was published a number of times in limited editions.
