Alpha & Verse Sampler 1822 - with ancestry silk threads on linen ground; two lines of alpha are at top, 1 in large uppercase script along with numerals 1-9 and the year 1822 other in medium uppercase block followed by the stitcher's name Abbey Bowen Shove, wrought in the ninth year of age, followed by another alpha in small lower case block letters, finally in a verse: "From low pursuit exalt my mind/From every vice o every kind/Nor let my conduct ever tend/ to wound the feelings of a friend / With pleasure let us own our errors / And make each day build on the last.
