This is copy number 586 of 1000 published by the Orange Judd Company, 1904, of "Uncle Ted's" recollections of nearly drowning off the Massachusetts coast, titled "A Swim for Life", with 83 numbered pages. The cover (app. 5.25" x 8"), green cloth with gold lettering and design, has shallow edge wear, sunning and shallow stains to the border and edges, a small dark stain to the back, and several light scuffs. It has no prominent stains or notable tears. The cord binding is in good condition. The lettering is clearly legible. The inside, with all lettering and art to the right hand pages, which are the only numbered pages, is in good condition. A few pages at the front have sharp creases and/or partial tears at the gutter fold, but no pages are loose, and almost all don't have the above-mentioned flaws. The only attachment is a small bookstore stamp (Clarke, Boston) to the bottom edge of the front end page. There are a few pencil notes but almost all pages have none. There are recurring superficial scuffs, but no stains of note. All the text and illustrations are unfaded and clearly legible. The above photos are accurate reflections of the conditions.
