Description
Wood Cased, with glass top, front and sides, Apothecary Gram /Grain scale with manufactures plate screwed on front indicating “ Henry Troemner, Philadelphia , PA , Cap. ½ OZ Model No. 545 C.A. , Made in USA” An applied circular brass and nickel style plate affixed to the side reads “Penn & NYC Apprv’d type 17 Serial W2 “ shows this was an approved weights and measures device in NYC and Pennsylvania .Cabinet is well aged with distress and patina appropriate for age and careful use in a pharmacy setting. All glass is intact, not cracks or issues noted. The bottom of the case is lined with black velveteen over the metal and wood base. For adjustable screw feet allow for scale in case to be leveled on surface with help of incorporated leveling bubble visible from top view. All moving parts appear in good working order, two nickel plated scale pans included. 8 3/8th inches tall X 12 3/4th inches wide and 6 ¼ inches deep.Provenance:From a collection of John Rote (1928-2017)Mr. Rote was born in the Netherlands.Attended and graduated from Oxford.Fought in the Dutch Underground during World War II Participant of the 1956 Olympics – Field HockeyJohn Rote, Chairman of The Privateers between 1957 and 1963. The Privateers were the United States field hockey team that competed with international teams, such as Bermuda, England, and Jamaica. The organization originated with the 1956 Olympic team and served to develop the sport worldwide. The Privateers hosted the International Field Hockey Festival each fall in Greenwich, Connecticut. Senator Prescott Bush (father of George H. W.
