A Pair of Chinese Carved and Giltwood Temple Watcher Figures, early Ming Dynasty, circa 1400-1500

Die Kunst Chinas: Ausstellung des Kunstvereins Freiburg, Volkerkunde Museum, 1965, pg. 26.
The two figures dressed in traditional head coverings and long flowing robes, hands clasped to hold elements, reverses with sealed cavities for offerings. The lot includes a copy of the publication which illustrates the pair.
Included is a German book featuring the two figures on page 26, The Art of China: Booklet for the Exhibition of the Kunstverein Freiburg in the rooms of the Städtische Völkerkunde-Museum in the Adelhaus Monastery.

Condition
Some age-related cracking to wooden bases, heavy losses to original gilding and chipping to blackened layer, scattered chips, elements to hands missing, with wear commensurate with age.
