Description
A sign from the Western Division of the Boston & Maine Railroad. This sign measures 62" by 10 1/2". There is some fading and discoloration but it's a great location.
This popular vacation spot came about when the Boston & Maine Railroad was dissatisfied with their relationship with the Eastern Railroad that uses the now rail trail from South Berwick to Portland. The B&M built this line around 1873. Rather than a build a tangent, the B&M chose to route through some coastal towns like: Kennebunk, Biddeford, Saco and Scarboro. This is the current line in use by PanAm and Amtrak.
