Attributed to Pompeo Girolamo Batoni (1708-1787) Italian. Portrait of Johann Christian Bach (1735-1782), Seated at a Desk, with a Marble Bust, Wearing a Wig, with Gold Waistcoat and Red Coat, Oil on Canvas, 38" x 29". Provenance; Exhibited in Eisenach (behind bullet proof glass). Exhibition; 'Ein neu entdecktes Germalde des Bach-Sohns - Johann Christian Bach - Der Mann in Der Goldenen Weste. Notes. It has been suggested that this portrait could be an early Johan Zoffany.
