This doll (reportedly) was purchased by UNIS (and donated?) for the purpose of fund raising for the wounded French soldiers of WW 1. The dolls were given to the veterans to dress and then sold to help with the expenses for feeding, clothing, etc. The tag on doll reads: LES BLESSES AU TRAVAIL 154, AV. des Chaqmps-Elysees et 24, Bd des Capucine. Cet Ojet a ete execute par le Soldat Doussol 279 (word illegible) Blesse le 1er Mars 1916 a Yres? Doll - stationary blue eyes, open mouth, mohair wig. 5 Pc. papier mache body w/painted shoes. Condition: silk clothing has severe age loss. Antique petticoat was added. Mohair hat has loss. Doll is being sold as a tribute to the French WW 1 effort for their Veterans.
