LARGE GROUP COLLECTION OF 18TH - 19TH C. CONTINENTIAL PEWTER

1.) TALL DATED PEWTER FLASK, KANNE OR FLAGON: The straight sided, lobed body with an applied decorative band of ivy at the foot, engraved under the spout, M.W. 1828. Screw top lid with ring handle and touch marks. 13.5”h. This piece was appraised in 2008 for $1200USD for insurance purposes. 2.) GIANT SWISS PEWTER FLAGON W/ DOUBLE ACORN FINIAL AND CHAIN: Giant, 18th to 19th century flagon with baluster form body and double acorn lid finial, two lugs protrude from the sides to which is attached a chain of heavy, circular links. Touch marks of Lorenzo Bella Bianca of Visp Wallace, Switzerland on the cover, 12.5" h. This piece appraised in 2008 for $1200USD for insurance purposes. 3.) c. 1810 PEWTER TEA URN W LYRE SPOUT & RING HANDLES: Tall baluster formed body has two fluted arms supporting ring handles, with a cast lyre handled spout pull. Domed lid with turned wood finial and resting on round wood base, circa 1810, 17”h. This piece was appraised in 2008 for $3000USD for insurance purposes. 4.) 2 @ GERMAN PEWTER ROUND, STRAIGHT SIDED FLASKS, CASKS OR CANISTERS. 1. The larger decorated with three ribs and two impressed decorative bands; Opening with screw cap and handle modeled in the form of a serpent eating its tail and touch marks to the top of the cap. 10"h with handle standing. 2. The straight sides with two impressed bands of foliate decoration. The screw-top lid has brass handle with embossed foliage, 9.5"h with handle standing. These two pieces were appraised in 2008 for $1000USD each for insurance purposes. 5.) PEWTER FLAGOON, LITER MEASURE & CANISTERS: 1.) Flask with attached lid and thumb rest, initialed 'AIA' at the lid hinge and with touch-marks on the lid, 10.25"h. 2.) Litre (liter) measure with touch-marks and impressed C.W. on the base. 3.) Graduated canisters with fluted bodies, twist lids and ring handles, larger engraved S.R.R., 6.25"h, smaller engraved C.R. and with illegible engraved writing on base, 5.5"h.

PROVENANCE: Frederic C. 'Fritz' Wallace (1904 – 2014, Germany, America) was born in Munich, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1938 and served with the Army for three years in the ‘European Theater of Operations’ (ETO). He traveled extensively throughout the globe, collecting with an extremely educated focus and uncommon eye. Truly devoted to research for his collection, Mr. Wallace ensured that he purchased the rarest of interested items in only the best of condition. A fortunate Realtor and Developer, he lived in Sarasota, where he was a patron of the arts and served for many years on the Board of Directors at the historic Asolo Repertory Theatre.
