Description

A very unusual set of Arts & Crafts or Art Deco Bookends. The Bookends are made of brass and copper and have a neat expanding scissor type action, they are approximately 5 1/2" closed and will expand to approximately 16", each decorative end measures 7 3/4" x 4 7/8" high, the design makes them perfect for hard cover books. The Owls have a few hand engraved details. The Owl Bookends are not marked, I think they are probably Austrian or German. They are in very good overall condition with a great patina. They are a bit tricky to get closed once you expand them, you have to line up both scissor actions to get them to fold. The Bookends would be perfect in an Arts & Crafts or Arts decor Library.
