18/19th C. Carved ChenXiang wood (Aloes wood) Chinese brush pot, in form of asymmetric cylindrical hollow vessel, slightly wider to the opening, in organic tree trunk shaped body. The exterior deftly carved with various levels of relief with continuous scene of pine tree and rock work. The intrigue carving is deep yet smooth, revealed a masterpiece artworks. ChenXiang wood shows golden-honey with dark-brown hued patina. The brush pot displayed upon a hard cushion stand, covered in vermilion-red silk.
The pine tree (song) is a very common symbol for longevity because it is an evergreen and can endure severe winters.
The pine is a member of the Three Friends in Winter.
The pine also symbolizes solitude.
The pine provides protection when planted near graves. This is because the mythical creature Wang Xiang, who devours the brains of the dead, is afraid of the pine.

Aloes wood, also referred to ChenXiangMu or agarwood, diffuses a distinctive fragrance and hence it is highly treasured, especially in China, Japan, and Tibet. The wood is typically only found in small segments of usable material, which are traditionally pieced together to make small scholar's articles. Its aromatic qualities renders it valuable in the manufacture of incense.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition. Some stress of wear. Natural wood imperfection, wood joint mark, minor scratches and dents. Blooming, fading, and sign of wears on silk covered hard cushion. Consider Normal, due to the ages and wears.
