Howard Chandler Christy (1873-1952) Artist, illustrator. Christy became famous with his picture, “The Soldier’s Dream” published in Scribners, accompanying a story. The girl in his illustration became known as “The Christy Girl”, and was later featured in McClure’s, Harper’s Magazine, Cosmopolitan, and Collier’s Weekly. 4 ¾” x 6 ½” autograph letter signed, no place or date, to “Dear Mr Russell.” “…Pach has just taken some photographs of me and if I have no chance to make a sketch of myself will send one down as soon as they arrive….”A red “VR” has been written through the text, not touching the signature.
