Description
Kikukawa Eizan (Japanese, 1787-1867), "Untitled (Geisha with Shamisen)"-circa 1830, polychrome woodblock print (ink and color on paper), with inscription cartouche to upper left, with inscription to upper center, with inscription and two seals (one circular, one round) to lower left. Figural Edo period (1615-1868) ukiyo-e print depicting two elaborately dressed geishas, one with black lacquered shamisen case. Framed approximately 23" x 17.25". Sight approximately 15.25" x 10.125". Provenance: From the Estate of Elizabeth H. Benner. Note: Utamaro was known for vivid depictions of attractive women.
