“Best Wishes, Joe Di Maggio” Color Photograph Signed
JOESEPH PAUL “JOE” DiMAGGIO (1914-1999). Nicknamed "Joltin' Joe" and "The Yankee Clipper" was an American Major League Baseball center fielder who played his entire 13-year career for the New York Yankees.
Color Photograph Signed, “Best Wishes, Joe Di Maggio”, 10” x 8”, Crisp Near Mint. An older Joe Di Maggio shown leaning on a baseball bat in a publicity shot taken for the Bowery Savings Bank, for whom Joe did commercials. Accompanied by a letter from Mary Di Maggio Topper, Joe’s cousin, explaining to “Cheryl” that she had obtained this photo from Di Maggio for Cheryl’s father, a Broadway ticket agent, “..I was able to get one for you. As a rule he does not send these out and right now he has stopped sending out autographed photos. He spends most of his time in Florida...” (2 items). Ex: EAHA Auction, June 27, 1998, Lot 67.
