September 11, 1968-Dated, Typed Letter Signed, “Poul Anderson,” 1 page, measuring 8.5” x 11”, Choice Extremely Fine. Written to John J. Pierce, future editor of Galaxy Science Fiction magazine, this Letter reads, in part:

“Many thanks for your interesting essay. It made some good points. Thanks, too, for your kind remarks about my work. However, frankly, I see no reason to declare war on the New Wave, New Thing, or whatever it’s called. In the first place, is it anything but an artifact of a few enthusiasts like Judith Merril? I myself just can’t find that all musth similarity between the works of, say, Roger Zelazny, Samuel Delany, Kurt Vonnegut, and R.A. Lafferty - whose stories I generally like and often admire...”
