Description
[Mickey Spillane]. 2011 South Carolina Senate Resolution 821 Renaming a Portion of U.S. Highway 17 the "Mickey Spillane Waterfront 17 Highway" with the Accompanying Sign. Mickey developed a fondness for the low country of South Carolina while in the Army Air Force during WWII and Murrells Inlet was his home for many decades. Most fittingly the state of South Carolina repaid Spillane's contributions to the state with a stretch of highway named in his honor. The official resolution is comprised of two 8.5 x 11 inches pages, dated May 11, 2011, signed by Jeffrey S. Gossett as clerk of the Senate, and with the gold-foil seal of South Carolina affixed to the bottom of the second page. The document is beautifully framed and double matted under glass to an overall size of 21 x 16 inches. The accompanying street sign is a regulation aluminum-backed sign with reflective green front and lettered "MICKEY SPILLANE / WATERFRONT 17 / HIGHWAY." The sign measures 24 x 9 inches. Both the sign and document are in excellent condition. From the estate of Mickey Spillane.
