Description
Ronald Reagan with Richard G. Hubler. Where's the Rest of Me? The Ronald Reagan Story. New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, [1965]. First edition, inscribed by Reagan to Jim Wrightson, likely the Sacramento Bee reporter, who's mentioned in Curtis Patrick's Reagan: What Was He Really Like?, in an anecdote about providing a question to help Reagan clarify his position on labor during a speech. Octavo. [iv], 316 pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, in original dust jacket. Lower board edges a touch rubbed. Dust jacket edges slightly worn with minor chips, spine panel faintly dulled. Still, a near fine copy of Reagan's first memoir. (Curtis, page 251)

Published just prior to his nomination for the Republican candidate for Governor in 1966, Where's the Rest of Me? provided voters with a fuller view of the man whose greatest previous political experience was President of the Screen Actor's Guild. The title comes from an exclamation in made in the film Kings Row (Warner Bros., 1942) at the moment Turner Classic Movies critic, Bret Wood, considered "the greatest acting opportunity of his career." (Kings Row. tcm.com).
