Regence Fruitwood and Marble-Top Commode, 18th century, the slightly bowed marble top with turreted corners, above a conforming case fitted with two short drawers over two long drawers, all with highly carved scrolling foliate patterns, raised on stylized hoof feet, h. 35-1/2", w. 49-1/2", d. 25-1/2".

The case is tight, solid and in useable condition, with normal shrinkage, mars, wear and indications of age and use. The marble top has a well-executed, professionally repaired fore-aft break. Drawers slide smoothly. There is an area of filler on the molding framing one of the side panels. The filler appears to be over areas of past insect damage. There are no apparent current indications of an active infestation.
