Three embroidered ranking badges from the 19th century. This lot includes two badges with a phoenix and one of a guardian lion. The embroideries are done in blue, red, green, and silver tones. The two phoenix badges depict the phoenix flying towards the sun in the left-hand corner. Buddhist emblems and clouds surround the phoenix. It has water, rocks, and boulders at the bottom of the embroidery. The borders are a Buddhist motif. The guardian lion badge features the lion looking off to the sun which is in the right corner. Buddhist symbols swirl around the guardian lion and below him is a waves and boulders motif. It also has a swastika border. They are all framed with glass.

Dimensions are 11 5/8 inches wide by 10 7/8 inches high. The frames are 14 1/8 inches wide by 13 1/4 inches high. All measurements are approximate. Comes with a print out on the symbols of dragon robes on the back.

They have age wear and are faded but appear to be intact. Condition applies only to the art or calligraphy, and not to the backing, frame, or mounting.
