Description
Carved sandalwood box from the early 19th century. This box is carved on the exterior with bats, fruit, and clouds. It has ornate lotus leaf brass hinges and an ornate latch on the top portion as well as a matching handle for the drawer. Opening the lid reveals a mirror that can be propped up. The box also has a single drawer. The box comes with a lock for the latch.
Dimensions are 8 5/8 inches long by 6 5/8 inches wide by 2 3/4 inches high. All measurements are approximate.
Provenance: From a Boston estate. Collected in Hong Kong in the 1950's and 1960's.
