This roman type scale made by the Fairbanks Co is stamped with the mark of the Hudson’s bay Co, i.e a sitting fox over a caplet over the word ’’FOX’’. This stamp a distinguishing feature of numerous objects marketed or used by the HBCo. In its trading posts : knife blades , fire steels etc. …
We also find the proof mark used during the reign of Queen Victoria (VR under a crown).
The arm measuring brass 81cms (32 ") is graduated to 25 lbs +( 260 / 100lbs ) . A weight brass slides on this arm.
