ARTHUR, DUKE OF CONNAUGHT: (1850-1942) Son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Governor General of Canada 1911-16. A.L.S., Arthur, two pages, 8vo, The Palace, Stockholm, 21st October 1905, to Rennell Rodd. The Duke thanks his correspondent for their letter '& for the information you gave me & which I will keep to myself for the present' and adds that he proposes attending the English church tomorrow, enquiring at what time the service is and how far the church is from the Palace, remarking 'I expect that we shall be a party of about 7, as I think Prss. Marhgaret will come too'. With blank integral leaf. Together with a second A.L.S., Arthur, one page, 8vo, The Palace, [Stockholm], 24th October 1905, also to Rennell Rodd. The Duke thanks Rodd for their letter 'from which it would look as Pr. Charles would ultimately give way pressure put upon him, from his point of view I think he ought to stand out for the plebiscite'. With blank integral leaf. VG, 2
