AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART MOURNING PICTURE, watercolor and ink on velvet, fantastical landscape setting with castle in background, urn-form monument for "J. Warner / OB. June 11, 1812" set on molded plinth inscribed "The tribute of a sister who loved / the living and laments the dead". Housed under glass in a period molded giltwood frame. Circa 1812. 11 3/4" x 15 1/4" sight, 15" x 18 1/2" OA.
Moderate toning, fading, and discoloration throughout. Frame with minor wear. Not examined out of frame.
