MID-ATLANTIC, POSSIBLY MARYLAND OR VIRGINIA, WINDSOR ARMCHAIR, oak/hickory and poplar, legs possibly chestnut, vernacular bow-back form having unusual five-spindle arrangement, compact arm rests, peaked-saddle plank seat, and splayed bamboo-turned legs joined with box stretcher. Refinished surface with mellow color. Late 18th/early 19th century. 36 3/4" HOA, 14 3/4" x 18" seat.
Very good overall with minor wear, small losses to stretchers.
