Description
A fine Royal Vienna style hand-painted and parcel-gilt serpent handled urn signed Wagner, circa 1900 Meissen style, surmounted by a domed cover and flanked by gilt handles, the ovoid body finely painted with a continuous scene depicting Aurora to one side and Cupid and the Three Graces to the other, signed "Wagner"; the fluted lower section with gilt decoration against a maroon ground, raised on fluted socle with flared collar and circular foot mounted to conforming pedestal base; stamped and numbered to underside and bearing inscriptions "Germany/Amor und Grazien" and "Aurora". H: 21 3/4, W: 10 1/2, D: 6 1/2 in.
Condition
Overall condition is excellent, with very minor wear to gilding at base foot and tassel edges at handle mounts. Minor wear consistent with age to lower rim of cover.
