Description
20th century AD. A cast silver ring with skull and crossed bones forming the bezel, the D-section hoop depicting symbols in triangular, lozenge and circular cartouches including six-pointed star, Runic 'S', swastika and runes against a foliate wreath background; the inner face of the hoop with crudely engraved 'H. Himmler S 1b Franz Berssur 9 11 40' inscription. 9.72 grams, 24.61mm overall, 20.47mm internal diameter (approximate ring size British V, USA 10 3/4, Europe 24.40, Japan 23) (1"). From an old North Country collection; formed between 1970-2000. Heinrich Himmler (1900-1945 AD) was Reichsführer of the German SS (Schutzstaffel) during the Nazi era; he is associated with neopagan and Völkisch beliefs that were used to promote the racial purity policies that led to the concentration camps and the Holocaust in Germany during the Third Reich period; such rings were worn by members of the SS symbolising brotherhood with their fellow officers and men.
