Rare set in the original boards of this notable and important work by the French artist, writer and archeologist who accompanied Napoleon on his campaign in Egypt, 1798-1801. First published in 1802, Denon's two-volume Voyage dans la basse et la haute Egypte is considered the foundation of modern Egyptology. The present set is complete save for two plates in the quarto text volume - the folio atlas is complete with 110 finely-engraved plates. Armorial bookplate of Sir Charles Jephson in the text volume.
