Description
This is a Seiko Spring Drive GMT Chronograph limited SPS003 caliber 5R86 in a like new condition. Worn extremely sparingly by the original owner, this Seiko Spring Drive GMT chrono could almost pass for new. The first iteration of the 5R86 this 2007 limited release sold out right away. Perhaps even nicer than the Grand Seiko models that preceded it, the gorgeous tachymeter bezel and beautiful (and never repeated) case make it an object of desire among Seiko collectors. Since this was the maiden issue of what is such an important movement to Seiko this watch just reeks of quality; in its heft, the finishing, metal quality and fit/finish.
Seiko is a Japanese company that manufactures and sells watches, clocks, electronic devices, semiconductors and optical products. The company was founded in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" in Tokyo. The Seiko company is renowned for their strive for innovation, introducing the world's first production quartz watch, and also the first quartz chronograph.
