Description
An attractive Villanovan lidded jar, c. 7th Century BC, the rounded body with upturned inward sloping rim, low pedestal foot, and two horizontal handles. The 'lid' is actually a small drinking cup with raised foot and vertical walls. The entire vessel is richly adorned with incised geometric decoration and double raised rings around the shoulder. The surfaces are well burnished with a rich black-brown coloration with areas of light deposits. A very attractive piece! H: 7 in (19.7cm).
