Wood sculptures and paper cut-drawings are his preferred art expressions; he has also explored clay, stones and metal.
He has shown extreme creativity in his scenographic montages for personal exhibitions based on specific themes The Forest and Medusa.
He has served as curator for Seven plus One Art group exhibitions.
Pedro Hernandez has received several awards since his first exhibition in 1957, and he was recipient of a Cintas Fellowship in 1983.
His book Pedro Hernandez Line in Movement, published in November 2013, comprises more than fifty years of his artistic career.Cut-drawing is the idiosyncratic method Pedro Hernandez uses to create works in paper. Using the blade as a linear instrument layers of colored paper are shaped to achieve form. Their colors are overlaid for contrast and texture, and cuts reveal space or background.
