This collection of photographs interweaves the professional and the personal, the public and private, in startling ways. It includes many of the bold, often carefully composed portraits of musicians, artists and presidents for which Ms. Leibovitz became famous at Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair. And there is previously unseen "personal reportage" on her big and exuberant family, her parents, and her life with Susan Sontag, the births of her three daughters, and Ms. Sontag's illnesses and death.

Annie Leibovitz is an American portrait photographer. She draws inspiration from photographer Richard Avedon, and his 'personal reportage', developing close rapport with her subjects. Leibovitz was chief photographer of Rolling Stone for 10 years, and her iconic portraits of figures such as John Lennon, Michael Jackson, and more are recognized worldwide.
