Description
Manufactured in 1911. Blued steel barrels with single brass bead and solid matte rib. Marked “HUNTER ARMS CO./FULTON, NY” on rib, near breech. Casehardened side lock action marked “L.C. Smith” on both sides. Features double triggers, ejectors and an automatic safety. Plain walnut pistol grip stock with maker’s grip cap and checkered panels on both sides, red and black Hawkins rubber butt pad. LOP is 12-3/4” from front trigger to end of wood and 13-1/2” to end of butt pad. Checkered splinter forend with ebony tip. Good condition; barrel with mostly brown patina and some scattered spotting. Action with case colors mostly faded to silver or brown patina, some surface rust, case colors can be seen under lever and in protected areas. Bores frosted. Stocks good with scattered marks from use. Wood is cracked between action tang and right sideplate and barrels have been shortened by two inches. According to L.C. Smith: “The Legend Continues” by John Houchins, on page 197, it states that the 20 bore became available in 1907, a total of 57,796 were sold and only 5,874 with automatic ejectors and only 3,382 in 20 bore.
