Description
Manufactured 1929. Considered Winchester's first modern high speed bolt action sporting rifle that had a short-lived production through 1936, basically discontinued with the introduction of the Model 70. The Model 54 action was patterned after the 1917 Enfield. Has the stripper clip cut in the frame, two leaf folding rear sight on collar, small post and ramp front sight, pistol grip checkered walnut stock with Schnabel forend, sling swivels, and a Lyman adjustable Model 48 peep sight. Barrel retains approximately 95% of its original factory blue with just light edge wear and razor sharp legends. Frame retains virtually all of the factory matte blue finish. Floorplate retains approximately 60% original factory high polish blue, 80% on trigger guard. Walnut stock is very good to excellent, not cracked, does have the usual hunting dings. Perfect action and a strong clean bore. Extremely handsome 1920's Winchester bolt action sporting rifle.
