This rifle dates to Roy's early days of custom rifles in South Gate, California using the old FN actions that he ordered from Belgium with his name stamped on left side receiver bridge. He started building these rifles right after the war, and this one probably dates to late 1940's to early 1950's. It features a highly polished blued Apex barrel and high polished blued FN action. Flat inner bolt is checkered. Blued floorplate and trigger guard have faded to 75%. Flat counter-bored muzzle. Sports a beautifully grained Monte Carlo comb checkered pistol grip walnut stock with dark contrasting forend tip and grip cap with traditional Weatherby diamond, that appears to be dark rosewood with gold plated sling eyes and an early Weatherby black recoil pad. There is some slight loss to the Nitre blue on bolt release and a couple of minor age freckles on top of frame, otherwise the gun appears to be in near new condition inside and out. Perfect action. Strong bore. There are none of the early exotic wood inserts on this classic early post-war Weatherby hand-built custom rifle in a very scarce caliber. Anything not in a Weatherby caliber is very scarce. Early Remington caliber.
