John Kennedy Inscribed Classic “White House” Vignette Personalized to Jacqueline Kennedy’s Personal Secretary
JOHN FITZGERALD “JACK” KENNEDY also "JFK" (1917 - November 22, 1963). 35th President of the United States, serving from 1961 until his Assassination in Dallas in November of 1963, served as both U.S. Representative (1947-1953) and Senator (1953-1960) from Massachusetts, historic WW II Navy Captain of PT 109.
Special Offocial “White House” Vignette Card Inscribed & Signed, “To Mary B. Gallager - / Best wishes - / John Kennedy” as President on the matte, 6” x 4” overall (by sight), nicely matted for display to 11.25” x 9.5”, Choice Near Mint. Lovely classic 19th century Northeast view of The White House, hand engraved printed card at the U.S. Department of the Treasury Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Undoubtedly, President Kennedy hand-inscribed upon the mat below this vignette for a special presentation to Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy’s personal secretary, Mary B. Gallagher.
Mary Barelli Gallagher became one of newly elected Senator John F. Kennedy's secretaries in January 1953. After her first child was born, Mrs. Gallagher became a part-time secretary to Mrs. Kennedy's mother, Mrs. Hugh Auchincloss. From 1957-1964, she was Jacqueline Kennedy's personal secretary. One might think that JFK would know the middle initial and how to spell the last name of Mrs. Gallagher, but it is possible that he always referred to her simply as “Mary.”
