Description
Two early 19th English earthenware blue and white decorated meat platters comprising a large well-and-tree platter decorated with figures in various pursuit in a countryside setting; the other a meat platter with indentation and well decorated with figures fishing and on a bridge in a landscape setting. Neither platter apparently marked. Approximate height of well-and-tree platter 2.5", width 20.5", depth 16". Other platter approximate 2.5", width 17.75", depth 13.75". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Mrs. Nancy Rutledge Pogue, Blufton, South Carolina (wife of Mr. William Pogue, who served as an heir to the H. & S. Pogue Company department store chain based in Cincinnati, Ohio).
