Description
Japanese Export, early 20th century. A rectangular silver casket or box chased and repousse decorated with iris flowers growing out of water. Underside with three character calligraphic mark, likely an artist's signature. Approximate width 6.5", depth 3.125", height 2.375". Approximate weight 14.5 troy ounces. Note: Lid and base have tested strongly for silver contents.
Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Not lined to interior, but fitted with undecorated silver panel to interior lid. Some denting to edges. Bottom panel is loose. Some light shelf wear. Lid does not close tightly to one side - likely not a defect but a result of manufacture. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
