Description
Fired clay. Pre-Columbian America, Vicus, approx. 3rd cent.Very big eyes, pointed nose, wide, thin mouth. The hairstyle (or cap) is arched and over the forehead jutting forward. The legs are tightly tucked up, hands held in front of the chest. Extending from the arched back is a curved, pipe-shaped spout, connecting as arched bridge to the man´s neck. The vessel body is painted with a zig-zag, blackish, band pattern, on the front side big over the arms, smaller elements of this design on the back. The Vicus Culture was in North Peru to South Ecuador approx. 5th cent. BC to 6th cent.
