Samuel David Colkett (1806-1863)
Samuel David Colkett was taught by the painter James Stark (1794-1859). Colkett was a representative of the Norwich School of painters. Most of the works of the school were inspired by the landscape surrounding Norfolk. From 1828 to 1836 Colkett lived in London. He exhibited his works twice at the Royal Academy, in 1830 and 1831. Afterwards he moved back to Norwich, where he worked as drawing master, restorer and art dealer, and later in Great Yarmouth and Cambridge, where he remained for the rest of his life.
