Description
Outstanding pair of 2" demitasse cups & saucers (4") from an exceptional glass house in Bohemia between 1890 & 1905. The complexity of the gilding + the arched & enameled dot banding are superb! Although the light Amethyst glass is a classic late 19th century German hue, and the hand finishing denotes gorgeous repetitive & extremely ornate scrolling floral sprays, we hesitate to name an absolute factory. After a major examination of Moser designs, we are confident that these are not from that house. One of our chief observations is that the gilding is quite heavy, which as Bohemian glass purists know, flies in the face of the thin and delicate Moser accenting. There are however, several good suspects from the period including Muhlhaus and Egermann, and don't forget the masterful glass school at Novy Bor. This pair will be a stand alone display in any 19th century & Bohemian collection. Cups 2" tall Saucers 4"x4". Weight is
