A Russian gold, diamond, and gem-set brooch, Feodor Lorie, Moscow, circa 1899-1908. Formed as a three-leaf clover with finely-engraved gold leaves encircled by its own stem, set entirely with rose-cut diamonds, each of the clover leafs with collet-set rose-cut diamonds, centered with a faceted prong-set spinel, with a smaller clover bud at lower right set with a single rose-cut diamond. Diameter: 1 ¼ in. (3.1 cm). Feodor Lorié ran a successful jewelry firm in Moscow which was open from 1871 until 1917. It was located near Karl Fabergé's store, and occasionally fulfilled orders for the rival firm. Lorie's workshop was particularly well known for designs in the Art Nouveau taste such as this brooch.
