Pair of George III satinwood and tulipwood marquetry bookcase cabinets in two parts, upper portion with cornice molded top over gothic inlaid frieze above glazed doors with shelved interior on lower portion with eight short drawers over plinth base. Possibly by Gillows, circa 1790.
ht. 92in., wd. 45in., dp. 16 1/2in.
Typed label on reverse: July 1930 This satinwood bookcase is the property of Margaret Rosabelle Northcliff Harmsworth present from her father Sir R.L. Harmsworth. (Robert Leicester Harmsworth 1st Baronet, was a British business and liberal politician).
