Please note, there is a reserve on this painting.This item is part of a large estate of an aristocratic family from Eastern Europe. In late 1940’s, the entire estate was confiscated by the communist government and for over 60 years was displayed in a local museum until recently when the entire collection was returned to the family. Some items are in US and others are still in Europe. The collection is made of 18th and 19th Century art, antique furniture, tapestries and more. Some items are still in Eastern Europe but can be shipped anywhere. Also, to protect the privacy of the current owners, we will not divulge their name during the auction. However, each item sold in auctions will be accompanied by a letter from the owner authenticating each piece. Gorgeous oil painting on board, depicting a village scenery, authenticated by the museum as being an original 18th Century Listed Artist Alessandro Magnasco (1667-1749) also known as il Lissandrino. The signature is covered by the frame, as per the consignor. The inventory of all the items returned to the current owners identifies this oil painting as being original (see the pictures back of the painting with the museum stamp and the inventory number). This information can be provided, notarized to the buyer with the full translation of the text when it applies. The painting measures with frame 52” X 41” with a sight of 46” X 35”. The frame is gilded and is in excellent conditions. The oil on canvas is in good conditions with few repairs on the back (see pictures of the back of the painting) and with minor wear such as a line across the middle probably because at a time was folded in a museum and couple of small cracks. The majestic oil on board depicts a wooded forest with villagers bathing in the pond next to the waterfall. A noble man is riding the horse on a beaten path towards his castle. White fluffy clouds in the sky contrast with the deep green forest. The owner/consignor and us are willing to give the buyer 3 mos. full refund of the selling price (including the Auctioneer's fee) if proof in writing is obtain from a certified art specialist or museum stating that the painting is not original.
