Stoneware with creamy glaze, Cizhou glaze
China, Song, 11th-13th century
Wine ewer of bulbous, slightly ovoid shape with lobed vertical flutings on a flat base, sloping shoulder with a short neck and a narrow spout
Curved strap handle with a loop
Two further loops with applications imitating metal on the shoulder
Incised grooves on neck, shoulder, and just above the foot
The base unglazed
Height: c. 17 cm

Condition:
The ewer is in good condition with usual signs of age and wear. Partly small manufacturing flaws and chips at the mouth rim.
