Please note that this item has a reserve.This item is part of a large estate of an aristocratic family from Eastern Europe. In late 1940’s, the entire estate was confiscated by the communist government and for over 60 years was displayed in a local museum until recently when the entire collection was returned to the family. Some items are in US and others are still in Europe. The collection is made of 19th Century art, antique furniture, tapestries and more. Some items are still in Eastern Europe but can be shipped anywhere. Also, to protect the privacy of the current owners, we will not divulge their name during the auction. However, each item sold in auctions will be accompanied by a letter from the owner authenticating each piece. The set is comprised of one canape/couch, six arm chairs, four regular chairs and one gilded marble top table. Each item was carefully hand-carved and the chairs and the canape were then upholstered with magnificent tapestry. They are from mid-19th century and we define the conditions as good. Given the lack of space, we were not able to take pictures of the whole set but only one item at a time. The conditions are as seen in the pictures which were taken with the owner's best ability. We apologize for not whitening the background but the owners decided to sell the set today and there was not enough time to clean the pictures. There is need for cleaning the upholstery, some chairs and couch need some work and there one chair which needs repairs (black paint has chips and cracks). We will provide 10 pictures, the maximum allowed for auction but if necessary, we can send more pictures as per your request. They were purchased in France late 19th century. The marble has no cracks and the table is in very good conditions. Please be aware that this sale is “AS IS”. This magnificent set has been sitting in a museum for over 60 years so the usage was not heavy but for a set which is more than 160 years old, do not expect perfection.
